A 1923-S Wheat penny in Mint State (MS-62) Brown has no wear and marks that are scattered rather than concentrated: the open fields before and behind Lincoln’s portrait still show them, but the lustre is largely unbroken and the coin reads as uncirculated at a glance rather than only under a loupe. Brown is what copper becomes: the mint red has oxidised away across all but a few per cent of both faces.
