A 1926-D Wheat penny in Mint State (MS-67) Red is as good as the issue is known to come: no wear, lustre that is complete and undisturbed, and marks so small that finding them is the work rather than counting them. On a common date this is usually the only grade worth a large sum, because a coin anybody can buy for pennies in every other grade is one almost nobody kept this well. Red means at least ninety-five per cent of the original mint red is still on both faces.
