A 1951-D Wheat penny in Mint State (MS-67) Brown is as good as the issue is known to come: no wear, lustre that is complete and undisturbed, and marks so small that finding them is the work rather than counting them. On a common date this is usually the only grade worth a large sum, because a coin anybody can buy for pennies in every other grade is one almost nobody kept this well. Brown is what copper becomes: the mint red has oxidised away across all but a few per cent of both faces.
