A 1936-S Mercury dime in Extremely Fine (XF-40) has light wear on the high points and nowhere else: the two separate lines of each horizontal band and the individual leaves of the olive branch survive except where the high points of the wing and the hair above Liberty’s ear have just begun to flatten, and traces of mint lustre often remain in the protected areas beside the devices.
