A 1945-S Mercury dime in Very Fine (VF-20) shows clear detail across the whole design with wear on the raised areas alone: the high points of the wing and the hair above Liberty’s ear are flattened but still separated from one another, the horizontal bands across the middle of the fasces and the tops of its rods keep most of their major detail, and LIBERTY around the cap, the date, and the designer’s AW below the neck are sharp.
