What VG10 means
An 1878-CC Morgan dollar in Very Good (VG-10) is a Very Good coin at the better end of the grade: the hair above Liberty’s ear and the cotton bolls in her cap are smooth as they are at eight, but a little of the eagle’s individual wing and breast feathers and the leaves of the wreath survives where the design was struck deepest, and LIBERTY on the headband, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the date and the rim are bold. Both Very Good rungs describe a heavily worn coin that is nonetheless complete and easy to read.
